Richfield Mayor Debbie Goettel is seeking to replace longtime Hennepin County Commissioner Randy Johnson, announcing her candidacy for the District 5 seat that Johnson will vacate at the end of the year.
Goettel made her announcement May 18, the day after Johnson said he would not seek another term on the Hennepin County Board. First elected to represent southern Hennepin County in 1978, Johnson was the longest-standing commissioner of the board.
