Richfield Mayor Debbie Goettel To Run for Hennepin County Commissioner

(Richfield) - Mayor Debbie Goettel thanks Randy Johnson for his dedicated service, and announces her candidacy for Hennepin County Commissioner, District 5, including Bloomington, Richfield, and a large part of Eden Prairie.

"I want offer my heartfelt thanks to Commissioner Johnson for his public service. Randy has been a leader on so many issues during his career. He's done and seen it all but perhaps his greatest legacy is collaboration. Randy has been effective because he put political partisanship aside and got things done."

Debbie is a civil engineer with graduate studies at the University of Minnesota and Harvard University, and has extensive business management experience. She works in the environmental, health, safety and sustainability fields, and has worked for Medtronic, Nestle and Cummins NPower.

Tim Carter, General Manager of Richfield Bloomington Honda had this to say, "Mayor Goettel is a great partner. During my tenure as Chair of the Richfield Chamber, we worked together to increase involvement. During redevelopment of our campus, she helped us create a nationally-recognized design that is exclusive to Richfield and the state." Brent Wade, Manager of Richfield Bloomington Mitsubishi said, "Debbie is absolutely a business supporter. She was an integral part of helping us get our new building up and the approvals for all the permits."

As mayor of Richfield, she sought and won state and county funding for the 77th Street underpass that will transform that area, she led the "Do Town" initiative with the cities of Bloomington, Edina, and Richfield to improve public health and wellness and the environment, and worked tirelessly to redevelop Richfield's new downtown.

"Debbie is a leader with a regional vision. She works effectively with the business community, government, and all stakeholders to get things done," said Andrew Carlson, Bloomington City Council Debbie has the vision, experience, and energy to make Bloomington, Eden Prairie and Richfield the regional leaders in economic development, environmental health, and quality of life.

Debbie has been endorsed by Representative Linda Slocum, Senator Patricia Torres Ray, Eden Prairie City Council Member Ron Case, Bloomington Council Member Andrew Carlson, Richfield Council Members Edwina Garcia and Pat Elliott, and many other business and community leaders.
